Fall foliage at Mount Kurodake

14:30

Fall has always been my favorite season. It is where everything just bursts with its last beauty, like a grand finale. Also, the weather was perfect! Fall foliage in other parts of Hokkaido came slower and sadly, most attractions that I’ve been to only have 20% of autumn leaves. Surprisingly, when I visited Mount Kurodake, red maples, and other trees ablaze with shades of red, orange, and yellow. It was beautiful!

We took a ropeway up and here is how it looks like from the cabin. The view is awesome, arguably one of the best! They also offer a chairlift to a higher part of the mountain for enthusiasts who wish to hike to the peak. Due to time constraints, we did not try the chairlift.

Ropeway cost: 1950 Yen per Pax
Chairlift cost: 600 Yen per Pax
You can climb to the top of the building to take some awesome shots too!

Just check out the photo opportunities you get at Mount Kurodake! With such breath-taking views of the mountains and fall foliage, exploring the area was just one of the best feelings ever!! If you love autumn and wishes to see the fall foliage, try out Mount Kurodake when you are at Sounkyo.
