Khao Yai: Day 1

21:58

After our 4 days 3 nights stay in Bangkok, it was time to embark on our adventure to Khao Yai. Many questions were raised like “Where is Khao Yai?” and “What do they have there?” Continue reading to find out more about this enchanted place, Khao Yai.
Khao Yai is about 2 hours 30 mins drive from Don Mueang International Airport provided there is no jam. The best option to get there is to rent your very own car from the Airport. We rented ours from Budget. It is much more convenient to drive a car around Khao Yai as the place is pretty *ulu* , not quite sure if you will be able to grab a taxi there. We left the Airport at around 4.30pm-5pm (Bangkok timing) and reached our first hotel, Botanica at around 7pm++. Had our dinner at the Tempo restaurant @Botanica. Here are some pictures of the hotel in the night.

BOTANICA

Yes, the bath tub is in the balcony (WHAT?!) Now you can soak up and enjoy the beautiful view (Though its a lil creepy at night)

Here are some photos that were taken in the morning. We could see the mountainous view from our room!!!

PRIMO PIAZZA
Right after our breakfast buffet at Botanica, we headed to Primo Piazza which was about 10 min drive from the hotel. It was one of the greatest highlights of our trip!!! I mean just look at this place. Doesn’t it reminds you of Italy? Also, I took LOADS of photos here Hehe. Had to choose my pictures wisely if not it will turn into an album!

That’s right, you can feed alpacas, sheep and donkeys for free too. Can this place get any better?
Keep scrolling for more pictures at PRIMO PIAZZA (:

They were super soft OMG.

(They are good at posing)

Cool things down with an ice-cream in the midst of the heat (: That is all for my time at Primo Piazza. Love this place!

THE CASTLE (RESTAURANT)
This lovely restaurant is located in Thames Valley Khao Yai, a hotel. Thames Valley wasn’t one of the hotels that I stayed but I would love to try next time! Love the vibes of the restaurant! The interiors are sumptuous and inviting — with cushiony lounges to laze on.

We ordered 2 sodas and 1 mocktail! Couldn’t really remember what it was but the Lychee Italian Soda (White) was super good!!! Try them for yourself (:

They had a Western set for two that comes with Calamari Salad, Fish & Chips, Spaghetti and Dessert among the 2 options. (We opted for Panna Cotta) (890 baht) SUPER WORTH. I also ordered the Chicken Ham Pie (380 baht)

Sadly, it started pouring when we were eating. Didn’t manage to take as many pictures outdoors that day. Good thing was it was super cozy in the restaurant!!!

(Check out my Khao Yai Day 2 post where I went back to Thames Valley for afternoon tea!)

MY OZONE
(Yay the rain stopped)
Time to check into our next hotel on the list!! My Ozone was one of the resort I’ve been very excited to look forward to. Chanced upon their pictures online & thereafter couldn’t wait to stay there :) From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the hotel’s grandeur. Many of my friends asked “Can go inside the castle ah?” My answer is HELL YEAH, it is actually a hotel. I would not refer this place as a hotel. Seems more like a CASTLE to me!! (I mean look at this place!!! Can you even imagine yourself sleeping in a castle?! It is sure a one time experience that you’ll never forget)

We have not even move on to the interior and of course the MAGNIFICENT view from the hotel. To be honest, there are no words needed. Let’s just admire the beauty of this place (:
Keep scrolling for more pics :D

Here is the Lobby.

This was the view from our room!

There are bicycles for you to cycle around the castle (FREE). It is a good place to cycle because My Ozone occupies HUGE land so there are more paths for you to ride freely!

It is about 50 minutes drive from The Castle Restaurant @Thames Valley
P.S. To all who loves taking pictures, My Ozone is ideal for you!

(More photos of My Ozone up on my next post, Khao Yai Day 2)

MIDWINTER GREEN
NOTE: Midwinter Green is NOT a hotel, it is a restaurant.
After checking in, we headed to Midwinter Green for our dinner. It took 30 minutes drive from My Ozone. Entered the place with little expectations. Didn’t imagine that they would leave us a good long-lasting impression. Hands down, the coolest restaurant among our whole trip!!! Why I say that? It is because the atmosphere, concept and every little detail was perfect. We reserved a table at 6pm, and if I’m not wrong, we sat there for 2 to 3 hours. Wonderfully relaxed ambience set amongst mountains and overlooking lush greenery. There was also a light show happening at around 8pm or so. (THEY SURPRISED US!)

They have plenty of seats available (Indoor and outdoor).

Pictures don’t look as fabulous but the food was good. (That’s what all matters)
What we ordered: Mushroom soup (195 baht), Salmon Teriyaki (390 baht), Pork Ribs BBQ (490 baht), Porkloin (580 baht), Italian Soda Peach (95 baht).

There is also a marketplace place indoor - Picnic that sells a wide array of snacks, breads, plants and etc. Go in and take a look when you are there (: (We bought quite a number of things OPS)

I’m sure there’s truly no better way to unwind from bustling city life than spending the night here with good food and good company (: Midwinter Green is a pleasant place to chill at with an indoor and outdoor alfresco area to choose from. Great ambience with live jazz acts. It’s a place worth visiting. There is only one word to sum up my whole time at Midwinter Green: AMAZING.

This comes to an end to my Khao Yai Day 1 post, check out my next posts for more lovely places like these in Khao Yai.
